The first pressure energy zero carbon data center in China has been officially put into use

Recently, the National Pipeline Network Group officially launched China's first pressure energy zero carbon data center in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, integrating natural gas pressure energy into data center operations for the first time, marking an important breakthrough in China's computing infrastructure in the field of green and efficient energy use.

The pressure energy zero carbon data center innovatively constructs an integrated collaborative operation system of "pressure energy electric energy cold energy computing power", realizing the deep integration of electricity and cold energy generated by natural gas pressure differential power generation with computing power, providing important support for the development of "artificial intelligence+" applications, and achieving industry-leading technology and application level, filling the gap in relevant domestic technology fields.

Compared to traditional commercial data centers, pressure energy zero carbon data centers no longer rely on fossil energy for power generation. Instead, they provide electricity through the static pressure air flotation turbine power generation integrated device independently developed by the National Pipeline Network Group. Using natural gas transported through the pipeline network, a single airflow synchronously completes power generation, lubrication, and cooling, truly realizing the "one gas, three uses" of natural gas. This fundamentally solves the industry problems of complex structure and cumbersome operation and maintenance of domestic natural gas residual pressure generator units. The matching pry mounted cold energy utilization device synchronously outputs derived cold energy, achieving complete self-sufficiency in data center power and cooling supply, and truly achieving "zero carbonization" operation.

After the project is put into operation, the annual power generation will exceed 1.5 million kilowatt hours, saving over 1.2 million yuan in electricity costs annually. According to calculations, the PUE value of pressure energy zero carbon data centers (a core indicator that measures the energy efficiency of data centers, the closer the value is to 1, the higher the energy efficiency) can be reduced to 1.135, far lower than the average level of 1.46 for traditional data centers in China published in the "China Green Computing Development Research Report (2025)", and the energy efficiency level has increased by 22%.

The pressure energy zero carbon data center is built using two modular container machine rooms, equipped with 96 standard cabinets, which can provide edge intelligent computing power support for business systems such as the group company's machine vision platform and production monitoring command center, while meeting the computing power needs of regional business systems.

The edge deployment of the pressure energy zero carbon data center is flexible, and can rely on the national site selection and layout of the National Pipeline Network Group. According to the application scenarios of users and energy sources, intelligent computing nodes can be quickly implemented to meet the needs of artificial intelligence edge reasoning applications, with broad development potential.
