The first Smart Gas Development Forum held in China's gas industry

    On May 21, 2026, the 12th Smart Gas Development Forum, themed "Empowered by Digital Intelligence · Igniting a New Journey", opened in Beijing. Hosted by the China City Gas Association, this forum was undertaken by Beijing Gas Group for the first time. Nearly 600 representatives from national gas industry authorities, research institutes, and upstream and downstream enterprises in the industry chain gathered in the capital to discuss new paths for the development of smart gas and explore new directions for the digital and intelligent transformation of the industry.

As the organizer of this forum, Beijing Gas Group released the report titled "Ontology Foundation, Intelligent Prevention and Control, Wisdom Leadership - Building a Smart Management System for Gas Safety in Beijing" during the keynote speech session. Reporters learned that, facing an ultra-large and complex pipeline network with an annual gas supply of approximately 18 billion cubic meters and pipelines stretching about 30,000 kilometers, Beijing Gas Group has comprehensively established a safety and smart governance system covering ontology safety, intelligent sensing and control, and smart management, achieving a full-chain closed-loop empowerment from "passive response" to "active defense".

At the opening ceremony, the Digital Gas Professional Committee of the China City Gas Association was officially unveiled, marking a new stage of collaborative efforts in the digital and intelligent transformation of China's gas industry. The "China Smart Manufacturing · Gas Digital Experience Exhibition" that was also unveiled during the same period attracted several leading technology enterprises in the industry to participate, showcasing cutting-edge technological achievements such as IoT perception, intelligent early warning, and AI inspection equipment, providing an efficient platform for supply and demand.

Liu Heming, Chairman of the China City Gas Association, pointed out at the meeting that the deep integration of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital twins with the gas industry has opened up a new space for high-quality development of the industry, using digitalization to strengthen the lifeline of urban gas. Li Zhongbao, Chief Engineer of China Aerospace, stated at the meeting: From precise perception of the pipeline network to intelligent scheduling and decision-making, installing "safety locks" and "smart brains" for urban gas can jointly safeguard the safe and stable operation of urban gas.

The specially designed "Co-creating an Open Ecosystem" session at the forum achieved remarkable results. The sub-sessions, "AI-Empowered Smart Gas Panorama Release Event" and "Aerospace Energy New Technology and Product Exhibition and Exchange Meeting", collectively showcased innovative achievements in areas such as AI empowering urban lifelines and the transformation and application of aerospace technology. They provided a precise platform for industry technology iteration and product upgrades, effectively promoting deep integration and collaborative innovation between upstream and downstream resources in the industry chain.
