China's first salt cavern gas storage facility has completed capacity expansion and renovation, achieving a leap in peak shaving capability

On September 21st, it was learned from the National Pipeline Network Group that the key construction project of the national natural gas storage facility - Jintan Gas Storage Ground Facility Expansion Project - has successfully completed a 72 hour full load trial operation and officially put into operation. As the first salt cavern gas storage facility in China, Jintan Gas Storage has achieved a leapfrog improvement in operational efficiency through this expansion, significantly enhancing the injection and production throughput capacity, injecting new energy into the energy supply of the Yangtze River Delta region, and has important significance for improving the regional natural gas peak shaving and emergency supply level.

The Jintan gas storage facility is located in the core area of the Yangtze River Delta and is a key "granary" for ensuring regional energy supply. After the capacity expansion project is put into operation, the peak shaving capacity of the gas storage facility has achieved a comprehensive breakthrough: the daily gas injection capacity has increased from 8.2 million cubic meters to 13.2 million cubic meters, an increase of 60%; The daily peak shaving gas production capacity has significantly increased from 6 million cubic meters to 18 million cubic meters, a two-fold increase; The daily emergency gas production capacity has increased from 15 million cubic meters to 27 million cubic meters, and the emergency support capacity has increased by 80%. The breakthrough of this series of data fully unleashes the potential of deep salt cavern space gas storage and peak shaving in Jintan gas storage, significantly enhancing the key role of gas storage in winter natural gas supply and extreme weather emergency peak shaving, and providing solid guarantee for gas consumption for people's livelihood and industry in the Yangtze River Delta region.

The expansion project, with the core of "improving efficiency and increasing energy", has put into operation the first domestically developed one cylinder two-stage electric driven centrifugal compressor unit in the natural gas industry, filling the gap in related technologies and industries in China, and enhancing the independent controllability of key core equipment in China; Two sets of glycerol dehydration treatment units have been built, with a daily processing capacity of 12 million cubic meters, achieving efficient operation of integrated gas injection and production.
