On June 30th, Unit 2 of the Chongqing Huadian Tongnan Phase I 2x500 MW gas-fired power project, undertaken by Shanghai Electric Power Construction, successfully completed a 168 hour full load trial operation and achieved full capacity production and power generation. Thus, the first two heavy-duty gas turbines with the largest and most efficient 550 MW F-class capacity in China have been completed and put into operation. The news received attention and coverage from mainstream media such as CCTV's "News Live Room" and Xinhua News Agency.
The total installed capacity of the project is 1100.24 MW, equipped with two 550.12 MW split shaft gas steam combined cycle peak shaving generators, with a combined cycle efficiency of 61.66%. The unit adopts a gas and steam cascade power generation mode, and the gas turbine is equipped with an independent exhaust structure to reduce heat loss, maximize waste heat recovery, and achieve "one gas, two power generation". Shanghai Electric Power Construction is responsible for the installation and construction of Unit 2 and the public system building.
Since the start of the project, the project team has anchored construction goals, optimized construction organization, strengthened resource allocation, strictly controlled engineering quality and safety production, overcome multiple challenges such as rainy and hot weather, compact site, and cross operation in the Sichuan Chongqing region, actively seized the golden period of construction, and steadily pushed forward to achieve key milestones such as boiler water pressure test, turbine cover fastening, plant power supply, chemical cleaning, ignition and pipe blowing. During the 168 hour full load trial operation, Unit 2 operated smoothly, with stable load regulation and excellent performance in all aspects, and all indicators met the regulatory requirements.
The project is fully operational with an annual power generation of approximately 2.1 billion kilowatt hours, which can meet the annual electricity demand of 1.75 million households. It can save 200000 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 860000 tons annually, injecting strong momentum into the local peak summer electricity supply and green low-carbon transformation.
